‘New’ whale varieties seen off Mexican shore

Three whales identified off the shore off Mexico are believed to be a formerly unidentified varieties. Researchers discovered the creatures while tracking beaked whales near the San Benito Islands in November.

Jay Barlow, an aquatic animal biologist at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography in San Diego, claimed they did not know their exploration up until later on when researching pictures.

The researchers are currently waiting for the DNA evaluation of water examples that can hold skin cells for feasible DNA screening to validate whether the whales are a brand-new varieties.

If validated, it would certainly bring the variety of recognized beaked whale varieties to 24.
