Saddam’s bid to beat Hollywood

In 1980 the Iraqi strongman, Saddam Hussein, tried to launch his nation into the world of film making.
He spent tens of millions of {dollars} on an epic film known as “Clash of Loyalties”, filmed nearly totally on location in Iraq, and starring a few of Britain’s main actors, together with Oliver Reed.
But quickly after taking pictures of the movie started, warfare erupted between Iraq and neighbouring Iran.
The movie’s Iraqi-born British producer Lateif Jorephani recollects what occurred subsequent.
