The Seleka coalition ultimately splintered into numerous insurgent factions, typically drawn alongside ethnic traces and recognized by a bewildering array of acronyms – the FPRC, the MPC, the UPC, 3R and so forth. Along with Anti-Balaka militias, these armed teams have terrorised civilians for years, clashing over the management of mineral sources, equivalent to diamonds and gold, and cattle migration routes, and occupying some two-thirds of the nation.
